So, why Millijoin?

A

We just want to be good. We mean that in every sense of the word. We want to have a product that respects your data and your right to not be attacked by advertisements at every turn. In the future, we hope to make the world safer by increasing transparency, accountability, and safety through communication

How did Millijoin begin?

A

Millijoin was originally a safety app, a map based messaging service that could show friends, family, and even other users (entirely voluntary) in the vicinity, so you could alert them if you were in need of help.

The app was greatly received, used in over 80 countries, but was flawed for three main reasons:

  1. Firstly, for the app required a critical mass for it to be valuable to most people. Without a high adoption, the app had very limited value.

  2. We rolled out to festivals during last year and it was extremely popular. But trying to make money from festivals, when they have very tight budgets, was quite hard!

  3. We used Facebook as a verification method for creating an account. (Yes, we know. Terrible idea.)

So we decided to end Version 1 and start fresh!

We gathered all the feedback we could find, employed some wonderful, new talent in areas we lacked, and now we are back, better and stronger.

What is Millijoin today?

A

Today, Millijoin is rolling out as a chat app, and we have to make sure that this is the best chat app possible before we start rolling out key features. Millijoin will work just like WhatsApp, Messenger, Kik etc… But with Zero advertisements, Zero of the sketchy data stuff and Zero in-app purchases. We believe that communication should not be a privilege with large ethical or financial costs.

What will Millijoin become?

A

As the functionality increases, we want to start building safer communities. This would mean that when you go to a festival, theme park, shopping mall or any other place with a high volume of visitors, you can do so with the knowledge that the company is providing a safe environment for everyone and facilitating clear lines of communication; this is where we will generate revenue. We will expand more on this in the near future!

How do you make money?

A

We will generate revenue from the scenarios mentioned above, from businesses providing safe and positive spaces. This will not involve any user data, they will have no ability to contact you unannounced and they will never ever be able to target you with advertisements or any other form of marketing. We just want to make the world a better place! We will use revenue generated from businesses to keep chat free for everyone, forever.
